How to take smart notes
Write every note as if someone else will read it. A note that only makes sense today is gone in a month.
Your files, not our database.
The Library is a plain folder of Markdown. Obsidian, Git and any editor can open it. No lock-in.

Plain Markdown
Every article, highlight and note is a .md file with front matter.
Open it anywhere
Point Obsidian, Git or any editor at the same folder.
No export step
Nothing to export and nothing to migrate. Leaving costs nothing.
Agents work in your Library.
A folder of plain files is the format agents read and write best. InfoFlow gives them a safe way in. They ask, you approve, and you can Undo every change.
- 01
Ask
On the Mac, ask Codex or Claude Code to sort the Inbox, link notes or write a summary.
- 02
Approve
The agent proposes each change. Nothing is written until you approve it.
- 03
Undo
Every change goes into history. Undo any step, at any time.

- Inbox/thread-on-agent-memory.md→ Articles/
- Articles/how-to-take-smart-notes.md+2 −1
Saved to history. Undo at any time.
Capture everything. Keep what matters.
Your saves from X and Threads, feeds, web pages, PDFs and podcasts come into one Inbox. You decide what to keep.
X
Bookmarks, likes and threads, synced for you.
Threads
Saved posts and likes, synced for you.
Feeds
Follow RSS feeds. New posts arrive on their own.
Web
Save any page from the share sheet or the clipper.
PDF and EPUB
Papers and books, in the same reader.
Podcasts
Save a quote from an episode transcript.

- Mac
Listen
Any article read aloud, with a mini player.
Highlights
Mark what matters as you read.
Notebook
Your own notes, next to what you read.
Offline
Everything works with no network.
How it differs from Obsidian.
Keep using Obsidian if you like. InfoFlow reads and writes the same files.
| Topic | Obsidian | InfoFlow |
|---|---|---|
| Files | Markdown folder | Markdown folder, the same format |
| Capture | Plugins and manual work | Built in: share sheet, clipper, feeds, X and Threads sync, PDF, EPUB, podcasts |
| Reading | An editor | A reader first: Listen, highlights, Notebook, reading position |
| AI | Community plugins | Part of the design: Ask on the Mac with Codex or Claude Code, approvals, history and Undo |
| Mobil | Same plugin model on mobile | Native SwiftUI apps |
Pay only for sync.
The apps work with no server. A plan pays for the one thing a device cannot do on its own: syncing your saves from X and Threads. Our server never holds your Library.

Questions
Is this the same app as InfoFlow v3?
No. InfoFlow v6 is a new set of native apps built around a Library of Markdown files. InfoFlow v3 (classic) is still available for its users.
Do I need an account?
No. Saving, reading and writing work on your devices with no account. You need a plan only for X and Threads sync.
Can I use my Library with Obsidian?
Yes. The Library is a plain folder of Markdown files. Open the same folder in Obsidian, Git or any editor.
Which agents can work in my Library?
Ask on the Mac works with Codex and Claude Code today. An agent proposes changes, you approve them, and you can Undo each one.
Where is my data stored?
On your devices, in your Library folder. Our server syncs your X and Threads saves and never holds your Library.
Is there an Android or Windows app?
Not yet. They are planned. The Library format stays the same, so your files will move with you.
